Bo Lueders, the guitarist and founding member of the hardcore band Harm’s Way, has passed away at the age of 38. The announcement, made through a joint statement by Harm’s Way and the HardLore Podcast, which Lueders co-hosted with Colin Young, has sparked widespread mourning within the hardcore music community.

The statement expressed deep sorrow, describing Lueders as someone remembered for his profound empathy, compassion toward friends and family, and his distinctive, magnetic presence both on stage and off. The band and podcast team requested privacy as they navigate this profoundly difficult period.

Lueders was instrumental in forming Harm’s Way in Chicago in 2006 and remained a central figure in the band’s evolution for nearly twenty years. The group released five studio albums, with their latest, Common Suffering, arriving in 2023. Over the years, Harm’s Way cultivated a loyal fanbase within the global hardcore and metal scenes, with Lueders’ intense performances and strong connection to fans playing a key role in defining the band’s sound and identity.

In a significant development, the statement also included a message encouraging those facing depression or thoughts of self-harm to seek help, emphasizing that no one is alone in their struggles. This appeal has resonated deeply with fans and has sparked important conversations about mental health within the music community.

The cause of Lueders’ death has not been disclosed publicly.
