Milly Alcock’s Supergirl Trailer Draws Comparisons to Guardians of the Galaxy

Milly Alcock has become a trending topic following the release of the latest trailer for Supergirl, which has generated significant online discussion. While the footage offers an in-depth look at Alcock’s portrayal of Kara Zor-El, much of the conversation quickly shifted to unexpected comparisons with another major franchise.

Shortly after the trailer’s debut, social media platforms were flooded with reactions highlighting similarities between the film’s tone and visuals and those of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Viewers pointed out parallels in music selection, vibrant cosmic settings, and character design. One widely shared post even dubbed the movie “Guardians of the Galaxy 3.5,” emphasizing the resemblance.

Some fans expressed frustration, arguing that the film felt more like a spin-off of Guardians of the Galaxy than a true Supergirl story. Criticism also targeted the narrative style, with comments lamenting the prevalence of superhero tales focused on personal journeys and self-discovery. Calls for a change in creative direction were voiced, including dissatisfaction with the involvement of James Gunn.

Others highlighted specific scenes involving Supergirl and her dog Krypto, noting that the emotional moments echoed recent superhero story arcs, further fueling the debate.

In a significant development, the trailer hints at a plot where Kara embarks on a perilous mission after Krypto is poisoned, combining elements of action, revenge, and space adventure. While some viewers questioned the originality of the storyline, defenders pointed out that it is adapted from the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comics, which predate many of the comparisons being made.

As discussions continue to intensify, Alcock’s interpretation of Supergirl has become a focal point, with opinions remaining divided across the fanbase.
