Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC) has outlined a five-year plan to lift its crude output by 68 percent and its gas sales by 46 percent by FY2030-31. The company is aiming for crude production of 60,384 barrels a day and gas sales of 1,167 million standard cubic feet daily by the end of that period.
An agency citing official documents said the company would raise crude output from 36,013 barrels a day in FY2025-26. Over the same span, gas sales are projected to climb from 797 MMscfd to 1,167 MMscfd.
Year-by-year forecasts for crude and gas output
Crude production is forecast to reach 41,076 barrels a day in FY2026-27, then 51,239 in FY2027-28 and 57,028 in FY2028-29. It is expected to touch 59,747 barrels a day in FY2029-30 before reaching the final goal.
Gas sales are pegged at 764 MMscfd for FY2026-27, rising to 935 MMscfd the following year and 1,125 MMscfd in FY2028-29. The company anticipates 1,154 MMscfd in FY2029-30, followed by 1,167 MMscfd in the last year of the plan.

Field initiatives and plant expansions in the plan
The strategy combines several types of work, according to the documents:
- 19 brownfield revitalisation initiatives
- 10 greenfield development and old-discovery projects
- 12 pressure-maintenance and EOR schemes
- enlarging seven production plants already in operation
Five compression and development projects behind the growth
Five major development and compression schemes are central to sustaining and raising output. Two have already come online, while three are slated for completion between November 2026 and March 2028.
Jhal Magsi came online in August 2025, with associated output of 14 MMscfd of gas and 45 barrels of crude daily. The Dakhni front-end compression project was commissioned in February 2026, yielding 100 barrels of oil a day, five MMscfd of gas and 30 metric tonnes of sulphur daily.
The Uch compression scheme is due in November 2026, and the documents describe it as vital to holding the field at its current production plateau. KPD-TAY compression is set for December 2026, with daily output of 750 barrels of condensate, 50 MMscfd of gas and 130 tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
Sinjhoro Development Phase-II is expected in March 2028, with planned associated production of 27 MMscfd of gas and 30 tonnes of LPG a day.
OGDC’s share of Pakistan’s oil and gas sector
The documents also underline the company’s weight in Pakistan’s exploration and production sector. OGDC accounts for roughly 55 percent of the country’s crude output, 28 percent of gas production and 35 percent of LPG output.
It also holds 58 percent of Pakistan’s oil reserves and 28 percent of its gas reserves. Its exploration acreage covers about 31 percent of the national area under exploration, and it contributes 53 percent of 2D and 34 percent of 3D seismic acquisition.
The company holds 112 production leases, of which 82 are operated by it and 30 are non-operated interests.
