The federal government has announced a revision in petroleum prices, increasing the cost of petrol by Rs4.45 per litre while simultaneously reducing the price of high-speed diesel by Rs2 per litre. These adjustments will be effective from tonight and will remain in place until the next scheduled price update tomorrow.
Under the new pricing structure, petrol will be sold at Rs333 per litre, marking a notable rise, whereas high-speed diesel’s price has been lowered to Rs383.86 per litre. This move reflects the government’s response to recent fluctuations in global oil markets and changes in the foreign exchange rate, which directly influence domestic fuel costs.
Petrol is predominantly consumed by private vehicles, motorcycles, and public transport systems, making it a critical fuel for daily commuters and urban mobility. On the other hand, high-speed diesel is extensively used in sectors such as agriculture, heavy transportation, and various industrial operations, highlighting its importance for the country’s economic activities.
In a significant development, these price modifications aim to balance the impact of international market dynamics on the local economy while providing some relief to industries reliant on diesel. The government continues to monitor global trends closely to adjust fuel prices accordingly, ensuring stability and sustainability in the energy sector.
