A case has been registered at the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police station following a shooting incident in Saranan town, located in Balochistan’s Pishin district, where five labourers lost their lives. The FIR names unidentified suspects and includes charges of terrorism, murder, and attempted murder.

The attack occurred on Monday when armed men opened fire on workers involved in road construction in the Sulaiman Zai area. The assailants also targeted construction machinery before fleeing the scene. Police and rescue teams promptly shifted the deceased and injured to a nearby hospital. The victims were reportedly from Punjab.

Rescue officials confirmed that the bodies have been transported to Quetta and are scheduled to be sent to their hometowns for burial today. In response to the attack, a significant deployment of police and law enforcement agencies secured the area and launched a search operation to apprehend the perpetrators.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti strongly condemned the killings, describing the murder of civilians as a stark example of terrorists’ cruelty. He emphasized that the labourers were working to support their families and contribute to the development of both the country and Balochistan. He asserted that those responsible for such violence would face no leniency.

The Chief Minister further stated that state institutions would intensify operations against terrorist groups to maintain peace, promote development, and protect citizens. He vowed that terrorists and their collaborators would be brought to justice, affirming that Balochistan would not tolerate those involved in harming innocent people.

Additionally, Shahid Rind, the Special Aide on Media and Political Affairs to the Balochistan CM, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and condemned the attack. He highlighted that targeting innocent labourers reflects the terrorists’ brutality but stressed that such acts would not weaken the resolve of Balochistan’s people or hinder the province’s progress towards peace and development.
