In response to the rapidly changing geopolitical landscape in the Middle East, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif convened a critical high-level security meeting in Islamabad on Sunday. The gathering aimed to thoroughly evaluate the current regional environment and its implications for Pakistan’s security framework. This session brought together key government and military officials to deliberate on the evolving situation and strategize Pakistan’s role in promoting peace and stability across the region.

The meeting provided an extensive review of the complex security dynamics affecting the Middle East, particularly in light of recent escalations involving major powers. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of a measured and proactive approach to safeguard Pakistan’s interests while contributing to regional harmony. Discussions also focused on Pakistan’s diplomatic and security posture amid these developments, highlighting the country’s commitment to peace and stability.

A significant portion of the dialogue was dedicated to the situation in Afghanistan, a neighboring country whose stability remains vital for Pakistan’s own security. Detailed assessments were made regarding the current conditions in Afghanistan, including the challenges posed by ongoing conflicts and political uncertainties. The participants examined how these factors could potentially impact Pakistan’s internal security and border management strategies.

Alongside regional concerns, the meeting also addressed Pakistan’s internal security landscape. Senior officials provided comprehensive briefings on the measures currently in place to maintain law and order throughout the country. The Prime Minister underscored the necessity of vigilance and coordination among various security agencies to effectively counter any threats that might arise from the external turmoil.

One of the key topics discussed was the aftermath of recent attacks on Iran by the United States and Israel, which have heightened tensions across the Middle East and the Gulf region. The meeting reviewed the implications of these incidents for Pakistan, especially considering the country’s close ties with Iran and its strategic interests in the Gulf. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed the relevant departments to prioritize the safety of Pakistani nationals residing in Iran.

In line with these directives, the Foreign Office presented a detailed briefing on ongoing efforts to facilitate the evacuation of Pakistani citizens from Iran. It was revealed that evacuation operations are being coordinated through Azerbaijan to ensure a safe and efficient return process. This proactive approach reflects the government’s commitment to protecting its diaspora amid regional instability.

The high-level meeting was attended by several prominent figures, including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Field Marshal General Asim Munir. Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Mohsin Naqvi, Azam Nazeer Tarar, Ahad Khan Cheema, Attaullah Tarar, and Ali Pervaiz Malik also participated, alongside Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi and senior civil and military officials. Their collective expertise and insights contributed to a comprehensive strategy aimed at navigating the complex security challenges Pakistan currently faces.
