Five Terrorists Killed in Pishin Operation as Balochistan Faces Rising Militancy

In a significant intelligence-driven operation conducted in the Pishin district of Balochistan, security forces successfully neutralized five terrorists, marking another milestone in the ongoing counterterrorism campaign across the region. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed on Monday that the operation was launched based on actionable intelligence, targeting a well-armed militant group actively involved in destabilizing activities.

The military’s media wing detailed that the troops engaged the entire militant formation, which was equipped with multiple weapons, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire. During the intense confrontation, one of the terrorists detonated a suicide vest, inflicting damage but ultimately failing to thwart the operation. The remaining four militants, described as India-sponsored khwarij, were subsequently tracked down and eliminated by the security personnel. This decisive action disrupted a network that had been responsible for numerous terrorist attacks in the area.

Alongside the elimination of the militants, the forces recovered a substantial cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives, underscoring the preparedness and threat level posed by these groups. The operation did not conclude with the initial encounter; ongoing sanitization efforts are underway to root out any remaining foreign-backed terrorists who might be hiding in the vicinity. The ISPR emphasized that these operations form part of a relentless counterterrorism drive under the strategic framework of Vision Azm-e-Istehkam, aimed at eradicating the menace of externally supported terrorism from Pakistan’s soil.

Balochistan, along with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has witnessed a surge in militant activities since the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan in 2021. The porous border and complex geopolitical dynamics have made these provinces vulnerable to cross-border terrorism and infiltration. Earlier this month, the India-backed Fitna al-Hindustan faction of the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) orchestrated a series of coordinated attacks across multiple districts, resulting in the tragic loss of 36 civilians, including women, and 22 security personnel.

In response to these brutal assaults, Pakistani security forces launched Operation Raddul Fitna 1, a comprehensive campaign targeting terrorist hideouts and networks. This operation has so far led to the elimination of at least 216 terrorists in various coordinated engagements and clearance missions. The militants had targeted civilians and security forces in several areas including Quetta, Mastung, Nushki, Dalbandin, Kharan, Panjgur, Tump, Gwadar, and Pasni on January 31, drawing widespread condemnation from the international community.

Countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, France, Canada, as well as international bodies like the European Union, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) have all denounced these attacks. Their statements reinforced support for Pakistan’s efforts to combat terrorism and maintain regional stability. The ongoing operations in Balochistan highlight the government and military’s commitment to safeguarding the country against foreign-sponsored insurgency and ensuring peace for its citizens.
