Three FC Personnel Martyred in Terrorist Attack on Ambulance in Karak, KP

In a tragic incident in the Badrakhail area of Karak district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, three members of the Federal Constabulary (FC) were killed when an ambulance transporting injured personnel came under a targeted terrorist attack. The attack occurred on Monday, adding to the growing list of violent incidents in the region that continue to challenge law enforcement agencies and security forces.

The injured FC personnel had earlier sustained wounds during a quadcopter assault on an FC post located in the Dargah Shaheedan area earlier that morning. As they were being transferred to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment, militants launched a second attack on the ambulance itself, resulting in the deaths of three FC men and injuries to others. The district police officer (DPO) confirmed that at least five FC personnel were wounded in the initial drone attack, while two rescue workers accompanying the ambulance were also hurt during the subsequent assault.

Following the attack, local police and security forces swiftly initiated a search and clearance operation in the surrounding areas to track down and apprehend the assailants responsible for this brazen act of violence. Investigations into the incident are currently ongoing, with authorities working to gather intelligence and piece together the sequence of events that led to this deadly encounter.

This attack comes amid a troubling rise in cross-border terrorist activities in Pakistan’s northwestern provinces, particularly Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Since the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan in 2021, the security situation along the porous Pakistan-Afghanistan border has deteriorated significantly. Militants and terrorist groups have increasingly exploited the region’s rugged terrain to launch attacks inside Pakistan, targeting both civilians and security personnel.

In response to the escalating threat, Pakistan’s military has conducted a series of intelligence-driven airstrikes targeting terrorist camps and hideouts across the border in Afghanistan. On Sunday morning, air operations were carried out in Nangarhar, Paktika, and Khost provinces, striking seven militant bases linked to groups such as Fitna al Khawarij (FAK), its affiliates, and Daesh-Khorasan. These precision strikes reportedly eliminated more than 80 militants, dealing a significant blow to the operational capabilities of these terror outfits.

The targeted camps included locations identified as “New Centre No. 1” and “New Centre No. 2” in Nangarhar, along with Khwariji Maulvi Abbas Centre in Khost, and several other Khwariji centres in Nangarhar and Paktika. These operations underscore Pakistan’s commitment to neutralizing threats emanating from across the border, especially in light of recent suicide bombings and attacks that have claimed numerous lives in KP and Balochistan.

Despite Islamabad’s repeated diplomatic efforts and appeals to the Afghan Taliban regime to clamp down on militant groups operating within their territory, Kabul has largely failed to take effective action. This persistent lack of cooperation has contributed to ongoing tensions between the two neighbors. In fact, the situation escalated dramatically in October 2025 when border clashes erupted after unprovoked attacks by the Afghan Taliban and allied militants on Pakistani border posts. These confrontations resulted in the deaths of over 200 Taliban fighters and affiliated militants, while Pakistan mourned the loss of 23 soldiers who were killed defending their homeland.

In addition to defensive measures, Pakistan has also conducted targeted strikes deep inside Afghanistan, including in Kandahar and Kabul, aiming to dismantle terrorist networks and prevent further attacks on its soil. However, despite multiple rounds of dialogue, a lasting ceasefire remains elusive due to the Afghan Taliban’s reluctance to control or eliminate terrorist factions operating from their territory.

The recent attack in Karak serves as a grim reminder of the ongoing security challenges faced by Pakistan in its border regions. It highlights the urgent need for enhanced coordination, intelligence sharing, and decisive action to safeguard the lives of security personnel and civilians alike. As investigations continue, authorities remain vigilant in their efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice and restore peace to the affected areas.
