Aamir Khan Productions has unveiled the first look of its upcoming historical drama, now titled Batwara 1947, ahead of its scheduled theatrical release on August 14, 2026. Previously known as Lahore 1947, the makers have confirmed the final title along with a promotional video showcasing initial scenes from the film.

The movie is produced by Aamir Khan under his production banner and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. This project marks a significant collaboration between Khan and Santoshi, alongside Sunny Deol, who recently starred in the sequel to Gadar, another notable historical drama centered on the 1947 Partition.

The first-look footage features scenes set during the Partition of the Indian subcontinent, highlighting moments of conflict and displacement. The promotional visuals prominently display Sunny Deol alongside Preity Zinta and Karan Deol, depicting their characters navigating through turbulent times.

Notably, the film has generated interest due to the reunion of Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi, who have previously collaborated on acclaimed films such as Ghayal, Damini, and Ghatak. The cast also includes Preity Zinta in a pivotal role, marking her return to cinema with Deol. Additional cast members are Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, and Abhimanyu Singh.

Sunny Deol’s recent successes at the box office, including Gadar 2, and the anticipation surrounding Border 2 have further heightened expectations for this film. For Aamir Khan, Batwara 1947 represents a major production endeavor, while Santoshi makes a notable return to directing a large-scale historical drama.
