The ongoing operation to safely repatriate Pakistani students and citizens from Iran has made significant progress, reflecting the commitment of the Government of Pakistan and the Pakistan Army to protect their nationals abroad. So far, 183 students have been successfully brought back to Quetta through the Taftan border crossing, marking a crucial step in ensuring their security and well-being.
Among those repatriated, the majority hail from Punjab, with 132 students returning home. Additionally, 22 students from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 15 from Sindh, 10 from Gilgit-Baltistan, three from Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and one from Balochistan have also been safely evacuated. On Monday alone, 62 students arrived in Quetta, comprising 42 men and 20 women. Shortly thereafter, another group of 121 students reached the city, including 41 men and 80 women. These students were enrolled in several prominent Iranian medical institutions, such as Tehran Medical College, Isfahan Medical College, Zanjan Medical College, and Yazd Medical College. Their return not only brings relief to their families but also underscores the importance of safeguarding Pakistani citizens studying abroad during times of crisis.
