In a significant development, Rawalpindi police have disrupted a murder-for-hire conspiracy by apprehending four alleged contract killers who had arrived from another province with the intent to assassinate a local resident. The suspects were reportedly hired to abduct and murder the individual in exchange for millions of rupees.
Authorities revealed that the gang had agreed to execute the killing on the spot for Rs2 million, while a separate deal worth Rs5 million involved abducting the victim and transporting him to Haripur before carrying out the murder.
The operation commenced when Nasirabad Police stopped and searched a suspicious vehicle. During the search, officers found weapons and discovered the vehicle was using a counterfeit registration plate.
Further investigation led to the confession of one suspect, who admitted to being part of a contract-killer group that had come to Rawalpindi with three others to perform a targeted assassination. Subsequently, the police arrested the remaining three suspects and seized additional firearms and vehicles linked to the gang.
Officials recovered two cars, several firearms, and Rs400,000 believed to be part of the payment for the planned crime. Authorities also stated that funds transferred to the gang’s bank accounts would be retrieved through legal and judicial channels.
The suspects reportedly have prior criminal records in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, involving terrorism, murder, narcotics, and illegal arms possession. During interrogation, the group disclosed that a man from Haripur had commissioned the killing of a Rawalpindi resident.
Police have formed special teams and initiated legal proceedings to arrest the alleged mastermind behind the plot. Efforts are also ongoing to capture other gang members and any accomplices involved in facilitating the crime.
