PM Shehbaz Sharif Unveils Rs 38 Billion Ramadan Relief Package with Rs 13,000 Aid per Family

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has officially announced the launch of an extensive Ramadan Relief Package for 2026, allocating a substantial Rs 38 billion to support families across Pakistan during the holy month. This ambitious initiative stands as the most expansive and well-funded Ramadan aid program in the country’s history, reflecting the government’s commitment to alleviating financial burdens amid rising living costs.

Under this scheme, each eligible household will receive Rs 13,000 directly through digital wallets, a significant increase from the Rs 5,000 provided in the previous year. This enhancement aims to provide more meaningful assistance to families struggling with inflation and economic challenges. By the eighth day of Ramadan, an impressive 64 percent of beneficiaries had already received their payments, demonstrating the program’s swift rollout and effective management.

The relief package is designed to be truly inclusive, covering every region of Pakistan, including the far-flung areas of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. This nationwide coverage ensures that no deserving family is left out, emphasizing the government’s focus on equitable distribution of aid. The use of digital wallets for disbursing funds not only expedites the process but also promotes transparency and reduces the need for physical queues, which can be cumbersome and time-consuming for recipients.

So far, more than 1.1 million digital transactions have been successfully completed, highlighting the scale and efficiency of the operation. To keep beneficiaries informed, the government has conducted over 1.2 million automated phone calls, ensuring that people are aware of the relief package and how to access their funds. The distribution network involves a collaborative effort between twelve banks and fintech companies, working in tandem to facilitate smooth and timely payments.

To maintain accountability and transparency, real-time dashboards have been deployed to monitor the disbursement process closely. This technological integration allows authorities to track progress and address any issues promptly, ensuring that the aid reaches the intended recipients without delay or mismanagement.

During a high-level review meeting held at the Prime Minister’s House, Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of this financial support in helping families cope with the increased cost of living during Ramadan. He commended the institutions involved in managing the rollout for their dedication and efficiency. The Prime Minister underscored the need to uphold the dignity of beneficiaries by ensuring that aid is delivered quickly and transparently.

The meeting was attended by federal ministers, senior government officials, and representatives from the State Bank of Pakistan, all of whom provided updates on the implementation status. The collective efforts of these stakeholders highlight the government’s resolve to make this relief package a success and to provide timely assistance to millions of families across the country during this sacred month.

This landmark initiative not only reflects the government’s proactive approach to social welfare but also sets a new standard for financial aid distribution in Pakistan. By leveraging digital technology and fostering inter-institutional cooperation, the Ramadan Relief Package 2026 aims to deliver meaningful support with speed, transparency, and respect for the recipients’ dignity.
