Karachi is anticipated to stay cloudy and humid over the next 24 hours, with light drizzle possible in the morning and evening across parts of the city, the Pakistan Meteorological Department announced on Monday. Temperatures are expected to range between 33°C and 35°C during the day, while the minimum temperature recorded was 28°C.
Humidity levels in Karachi currently stand at 78%, accompanied by a sea breeze moving at 15 kilometers per hour. Meanwhile, the Met Office has projected below-normal rainfall across most regions of Pakistan throughout August 2026, with temperatures predicted to remain higher than average nationwide.
In a significant development, the monthly outlook released on July 31 was based on data from 10 dependable global seasonal prediction models. The ongoing positive phase of the El Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO) is expected to continue throughout the month, while the Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) has also shifted to a positive phase and is likely to maintain this status during the forecast period.
These climatic patterns contribute to the forecast of below-average rainfall over the majority of the country in August. The most pronounced negative rainfall deviations are projected for northeastern and central Punjab, extending into neighboring areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir, as well as southeastern Sindh. Conversely, various parts of Gilgit-Baltistan may experience rainfall amounts closer to normal levels during the same period.
Additionally, mean temperatures are anticipated to stay above normal across Pakistan, with the greatest temperature increases expected in eastern Gilgit-Baltistan, central to northeastern Punjab, adjoining parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and northern Balochistan.
