Authorities investigating the murder of young businessman Mir Raza Ali have uncovered fresh CCTV footage that is aiding in piecing together his final hours. Mir Raza, an IBA graduate, was last seen alive on the night of July 28 after leaving his shop and telling family he would return within ten minutes. His body was subsequently found in bushes in Block 1 of Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
Investigators are scrutinizing multiple video angles to reconstruct the timeline leading to the killing in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Johar neighborhood. One clip recorded between 10pm and 11pm shows Mir Raza inside his kitchen, where he retrieves a pistol from a drawer, inspects it, and later places it inside his car before departing. This footage suggests he may have returned home afterward.
In a significant development, another CCTV video from approximately 4:38am captures Mir Raza walking alone on foot a short distance from the crime scene. This is reportedly the last known footage of him before his death.
Before leaving home, Mir Raza left behind his smartwatch, wallet, and house keys, taking only his mobile phone and about Rs1,000 in cash. He then booked an online taxi around 4:02am. The taxi driver informed investigators that he dropped Mir Raza off on a deserted road near the rear of Block 1 in Gulistan-e-Johar. Notably, Mir Raza’s cloud kitchen was located some distance from this drop-off point.
Police believe Mir Raza may not have reached his kitchen, as no evidence was found there. Important items were seized from the premises for further investigation. After being dropped off, Mir Raza was seen on CCTV walking alone near the area at around 4:38am.
While the earlier footage shows Mir Raza handling a pistol, it remains unconfirmed whether he carried the weapon with him after leaving in the taxi. The video of him boarding the vehicle does not clearly show if he was holding anything due to the camera’s distance.
Authorities have recovered Mir Raza’s mobile phone about 200 yards from the crime scene, along with a pistol holster found nearby. Both items have been sent for forensic analysis, though investigators are still awaiting the mobile phone’s forensic report.
Police continue to examine CCTV footage, forensic evidence, and other leads as they work to unravel the circumstances surrounding Mir Raza Ali’s murder in Karachi.
