NAB Court Declares PML-N Lawmaker Proclaimed Offender in Corruption Case

An accountability court in Multan has declared Ghulam Asghar Ali Gurmani, a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) member of the Punjab Provincial Assembly elected in 2024, and another individual proclaimed offenders after they repeatedly failed to attend hearings in a corruption case.

Judge Naeem Ahmad issued the order on Friday, directing the arrest of Gurmani and Faisal Tehseen, and called for further legal action against them. Proclamation notices had been issued under relevant legal provisions and were posted at several locations, including the outer gate of a residence in Employees Colony, Layyah district, and other associated premises.

Reports from court process servers and officials of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) confirmed that these notices were properly served and affixed in accordance with legal procedures. Statements were recorded from NAB personnel, including Assistant Sub-Inspector Shahzad Ahmad from Lahore and Zia Ullah from Multan, verifying the execution of the proclamations.

Despite these efforts, both accused individuals failed to present themselves before the court. The order noted that their attendance appeared impossible, leading to their formal declaration as proclaimed offenders and the issuance of perpetual arrest warrants.

In a significant development, the court directed that the case file be handed over to NAB authorities for further proceedings. Upon completion of all formalities, the file will be consigned to the record room.
