Prince Harry Faces Libel Suit from Charity He Co-Founded Nearly 20 Years Ago

Prince Harry is currently embroiled in a legal dispute with Sentebale, the charity he helped establish almost two decades ago in memory of his late mother, Princess Diana. Legal documents filed at the London High Court on March 24 name both Prince Harry and former trustee Mark Dyer as defendants in a defamation lawsuit.

The claim accuses them of libel and slander, alleging they orchestrated a “coordinated adverse media campaign” that damaged the charity’s reputation and disrupted its activities. Sentebale’s board of trustees confirmed on April 10 that it had launched the legal action, stating that the campaign also led to significant online harassment targeting the charity’s leadership and partners.

Despite the ongoing lawsuit, Sentebale reaffirmed its commitment to its core mission of supporting vulnerable children and youth in Lesotho and Botswana. Meanwhile, representatives for Prince Harry and Mark Dyer vehemently rejected the accusations, describing them as “offensive and damaging.” They also criticized the use of charitable funds for litigation, insisting that resources should be focused on aiding the communities the charity serves.

Prince Harry, aged 41, and his co-founder, Prince Seeiso of Lesotho, 59, both stepped away from active roles in the charity last year following a contentious leadership dispute with Sentebale chair Dr. Sophie Chandauka.
