Sindh Arms License Official Caught Taking Bribe in Viral Video

A video circulating on social media shows a government employee at the Arms License Branch located in the Sindh Secretariat, Karachi, allegedly accepting a bribe. The footage depicts the official counting currency notes, sparking widespread concerns about corruption within Sindh’s government departments.

The official involved has been identified as Muhammad Ali Shaikh, who is responsible for printing arms license books. It is alleged that he accepts substantial sums of money from citizens in exchange for issuing or renewing arms licenses. The video appears to capture him receiving cash from an individual and counting it with noticeable ease and satisfaction.

In a related development, a Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) constable stationed at Multan International Airport was arrested on bribery charges amid the agency’s internal accountability efforts, directed by FIA Director General Riffat Mukhtar. The Director of the FIA Multan Zone ordered the registration of a case against Constable Adil, who was assigned immigration duties at the airport.

The constable allegedly accepted a bribe to allow an unaccompanied female passenger to travel for Umrah despite her failure to meet mandatory travel requirements. Preliminary investigations revealed that the passenger lacked a return ticket from Saudi Arabia and sufficient funds for her stay. She was reportedly misled by a travel agent who charged her Rs280,000 under the false promise of employment in Saudi Arabia.

FIA officials stated that the travel agent paid the bribe to the constable to ensure the passenger was not offloaded. Following these revelations, the FIA in Multan registered a case and took the accused into custody.
