In a tragic accident in Kot Addu’s Sinanwan area of Muzaffargarh district, a loader rickshaw transporting members of a wedding party lost control and plunged into a canal, resulting in the deaths of at least 11 people. The vehicle was carrying more than 24 family members, including women and children, who were en route to attend a marriage ceremony.

The joyous occasion quickly turned into a disaster as many passengers were swept away by the canal’s currents. Bystanders at the scene immediately initiated rescue efforts, managing to save some individuals before emergency responders arrived.

Following the incident, Rescue 1122 teams, police, and district administration launched an extensive search and rescue operation. So far, 11 survivors have been rescued and hospitalized for medical treatment. Meanwhile, 11 bodies have been recovered from the canal, and two passengers remain unaccounted for. Among the missing are children aged between three and 14 years.

Rescue teams have expanded their search radius to approximately 20 kilometers from the accident site, deploying divers and additional personnel to locate the missing individuals. Police and administrative officials are present to coordinate the ongoing efforts.

The cause of the rickshaw losing control and plunging into the canal remains unclear as investigations continue. The search operation is still underway, with hopes of finding the remaining missing members of the wedding party.
