Body of Abducted Islamabad Youth Found in Mardan; Suspect Arrested

The body of a young man who was abducted from Islamabad’s F-6 area has been discovered in Mardan, with police confirming signs of torture on the victim. The body was transported to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for a post-mortem examination scheduled to take place soon.

The deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Farrukh Afzal by his family. They stated that he was kidnapped in front of his father, and the kidnappers opened fire when they tried to intervene. A relative recounted that Afzal was returning home around midnight, and as he was exiting his car, three individuals attempted to abduct him. Despite a neighbour alerting the police and his parents responding to his cries, the armed kidnappers managed to take him away.

The family criticized the police for not taking timely action or setting up blockades, suggesting that such measures could have prevented the abduction. They questioned how armed men could carry out such a crime in Islamabad, particularly in the secure F-6/1 sector near the Red Zone, and then kill the victim in Mardan.

Police confirmed that the abduction occurred as Afzal was opening his home gate in F-6/1, where four armed men forcibly took him into a vehicle after firing shots. An FIR was registered at Kohsar police station based on the victim’s father’s complaint. The report detailed how the complainant and neighbours tried to stop the kidnappers but were met with gunfire, allowing the suspects to escape with Afzal.

In a significant development, authorities arrested the main suspect along with a female accomplice in Swat. The vehicle used in the kidnapping was also recovered. Investigations are ongoing from multiple perspectives, with efforts focused on locating other individuals involved in the crime.
