Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif engaged in a cordial telephone conversation with Austrian Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker earlier today, reflecting on their recent meeting in Vienna in February. During the discussion, PM Shehbaz welcomed Chancellor Stocker’s strong endorsement of Pakistan’s mediation efforts, which contributed to securing a ceasefire between the United States and Iran and enabled the resumption of dialogue between the two nations.

Both leaders underscored the critical importance of all parties adhering to the ceasefire, highlighting that its maintenance is essential for the success of ongoing negotiations and for fostering lasting peace and stability in the region and beyond.

In a related development, PM Shehbaz also spoke by phone with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam on Thursday, expressing strong condemnation of recent Israeli attacks on Lebanon. He conveyed deep sorrow over the loss of thousands of lives and extended Pakistan’s heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims.

PM Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to advancing peace and stability in the region, noting that the ongoing US-Iran peace talks are a vital part of these efforts.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with the Saudi Foreign Minister, where both officials discussed the evolving regional situation. The Saudi side reiterated its continued support for Pakistan’s initiatives aimed at promoting peace and stability.

Both leaders emphasized the significance of sustained dialogue and diplomatic engagement as key to achieving enduring peace. They also agreed to maintain close communication going forward to coordinate their efforts effectively.
