PMD Predicts Light Rain in Karachi on April 6 Amid Ongoing Weather System

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast light rain in Karachi on April 6 (Monday), as a westerly weather system continues to influence much of the country. This system of westerly winds is expected to enter Balochistan and may impact Karachi by early next week.

Under the influence of this weather pattern, Karachi is likely to experience light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning. This forecast comes after a series of rain-related incidents that have raised safety concerns across the city.

On April 2, 2026, at least six people lost their lives and three others were injured in various rain-related accidents in Karachi. Several tragic events unfolded during the rainfall, highlighting the risks posed by exposed electrical wiring and unstable structures.

In the Golimar area, a rickshaw driver named Irshad died when a house wall collapsed on him. Meanwhile, in Surjani Town, a young man was electrocuted while working outdoors. Another fatal electrocution occurred near a hotel in PIB Colony, where Abdul Wali lost his life.

Further incidents included the death of a 12-year-old girl, Dua, who suffered an electric shock inside her home in Surjani Town Sector 7-A. Additionally, an unidentified man was electrocuted on MA Jinnah Road, and a laborer died from electrocution in the Ahsanabad area along the Super Highway.

In Orangi Town, three children were injured when a wall collapsed during the rain. These events underscore the ongoing safety challenges Karachi faces during rainfall, particularly due to exposed electrical hazards and structurally compromised buildings across various neighborhoods.
