Aleema Khan and KP CM Sohail Afridi Lead Sit-In Outside Adiala Jail

In a significant development, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) parliamentarians and party activists gathered outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi to stage a sit-in protest after being refused permission to meet the imprisoned former prime minister and PTI leader, Imran Khan. The protest highlights the ongoing tensions surrounding the former premier’s incarceration and the restrictions placed on his visitors.

Earlier in the day, Imran Khan’s sisters—Aleema Khanum, Noreen Khan, and Uzma Khan—arrived at the jail accompanied by six lawyers whose names were on the approved list for a scheduled meeting with the former prime minister. Despite their preparations and expectations, they were kept waiting outside the facility and ultimately denied entry, preventing any contact with Imran Khan.

Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, along with several members of the provincial assembly, also arrived at Adiala Jail to show their support and solidarity with the PTI founder. Their presence underscored the political significance of the event and the growing unrest among PTI ranks regarding the treatment of their leader.

As the designated meeting time elapsed without any visitors being allowed inside, including close family members and party officials, frustration mounted. In response, Aleema Khan, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, and other lawmakers initiated a sit-in protest at the Factory checkpoint near the jail. This demonstration remains ongoing, reflecting the party’s determination to press for access and raise awareness about Imran Khan’s situation.
