Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has developed a comprehensive traffic management strategy for cattle markets throughout the federal capital to facilitate smooth vehicular movement and assist citizens in the lead-up to Eid ul Adha. Chief Traffic Officer Muhammad Sarfraz Virk announced that more than 350 officers and personnel will be assigned duties under this special plan.
Additional traffic officials have been stationed at and near cattle markets to direct commuters and maintain orderly traffic flow. The CTO emphasized the importance of avoiding roadside parking near these markets and urged the public to utilize designated parking zones to prevent congestion and blockages.
ITP personnel will be on duty around the clock during the Eid period to support citizens and uphold traffic discipline. Virk called on the public to cooperate fully with traffic authorities and adhere strictly to the traffic plan to ensure efficient management across Islamabad.
In a significant development, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee (RHC) confirmed on May 17 that Eid ul Adha will be observed on May 27, following the sighting of the crescent moon for the month of Zilhaj. This announcement was made during a meeting chaired by Maulana Azad at the Pakistan Meteorological Department in Karachi.
Meanwhile, the federal government declared a three-day public holiday from May 26 to May 28 (Tuesday to Thursday) to mark the Eid celebrations.
