Flour Prices Decline in Karachi Following New Wheat Crop Arrival

In a significant development for consumers in Karachi, flour mill owners have announced a notable reduction in the prices of both flour and fine flour. This price adjustment comes in the wake of the arrival of the new wheat crop in the market, which has led to a substantial decrease in wheat prices.

The price of wheat has fallen by Rs. 10 per kilogram, dropping from Rs. 95 to Rs. 85 per kilogram. This decline has directly influenced the cost of flour, resulting in a price cut of up to Rs. 12 per kilogram. Specifically, the price of flour No. 2.5 in Karachi has been lowered from Rs. 107 to Rs. 95 per kilogram. Similarly, fine flour prices have also experienced a significant reduction, falling from Rs. 126 to Rs. 114 per kilogram.

Experts suggest that the increased availability of the fresh wheat crop in the market is expected to contribute to price stabilization. This development is particularly important as it offers much-needed relief to consumers who have been grappling with the effects of rising inflation. The reduction in flour prices is likely to ease the financial burden on households, given that flour is a staple food item in the region.

Meanwhile, the Flour Mills Association has played a key role in communicating these changes, highlighting the direct correlation between wheat prices and flour costs. As the market adjusts to the new supply, stakeholders remain hopeful that these price trends will continue, providing sustained economic relief to the public.
