Trump Calls on Global Allies to Secure Strait of Hormuz Amid Tensions

Former US President Donald Trump has made a strong appeal to the international community, urging countries around the world to take an active role in safeguarding the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial maritime passage for global energy supplies. This call comes in the wake of extensive US military operations aimed at curbing Iran’s military strength, which Trump claims have significantly diminished Tehran’s ability to threaten shipping lanes in the region.

Trump highlighted that American forces have targeted over 7,000 sites within Iran, resulting in the destruction of more than 100 Iranian naval vessels. him, these strikes have led to a dramatic 90 percent reduction in Iranian attacks, particularly against commercial shipping and military assets. He emphasized that Iran’s missile production, drone capabilities, naval fleet, and radar installations have all been severely compromised by these operations.

While discussing the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz, Trump pointed out that less than one percent of the United States’ crude oil imports pass through this narrow waterway. However, he underscored that other nations, notably China and North Korea, are heavily dependent on the strait for their energy needs. He stated that China receives approximately 90 percent of its oil imports through this route, while North Korea relies on it for about 95 percent of its oil supply, making the security of the strait a matter of international concern.

In light of these facts, Trump urged countries that rely on the Strait of Hormuz for their oil shipments to step forward and share the responsibility of protecting this vital corridor. He mentioned that some nations have already expressed willingness to assist in these efforts, though he did not specify which ones. Conversely, he noted that other countries have yet to commit to any concrete action, highlighting the need for greater international cooperation.

Despite asserting that Iran’s military infrastructure has been rapidly dismantled, Trump admitted there remains some uncertainty about whether naval mines have been deployed in the strait. Nevertheless, he maintained that the overall risk of attacks on commercial vessels has been substantially lowered due to US military pressure. This reduction in threats is critical for maintaining the free flow of oil and goods through one of the world’s most strategically important maritime chokepoints.

Concluding his remarks, Trump emphasized that the stability of the Strait of Hormuz cannot be ensured by the United States alone. He called on all countries dependent on this route to act swiftly and decisively, framing international collaboration as essential to preserving peace and security in this volatile region. The former president’s statements underscore the ongoing geopolitical tensions surrounding the strait and the broader implications for global energy markets and maritime security.
