Safe Return of Pakistani Students and Citizens from Iran Progresses Smoothly

The ongoing operation to safely bring back Pakistani students and citizens from Iran has made significant progress, highlighting the government’s commitment to protecting its nationals abroad. This large-scale repatriation effort follows a recent attack in Iran, which raised serious concerns about the safety of Pakistanis studying and residing there. So far, 183 students have successfully crossed the Taftan border and arrived safely in Quetta, thanks to coordinated efforts by the Government of Pakistan and the Pakistan Army.

These students come from various provinces across Pakistan, reflecting the diverse representation of the country’s youth pursuing education overseas. Among those repatriated, 132 hail from Punjab, the country’s most populous province, while 22 students belong to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Sindh has 15 students returning, Gilgit-Baltistan accounts for 10, Azad Jammu and Kashmir has three, and Balochistan has one student safely back on home soil. This distribution underscores the widespread impact of the situation in Iran on Pakistani families nationwide.

On Monday alone, 62 students were transported to Quetta, comprising 42 men and 20 women. Shortly after, another group of 121 students arrived, including 41 men and 80 women. These young men and women had been enrolled in various medical colleges across Iran, such as Tehran Medical College, Isfahan Medical College, Zanjan Medical College, and Yazd Medical College. Their studies in these institutions represent a significant investment in their future and the country’s healthcare sector.

The families of the returning students expressed deep gratitude towards the Government of Pakistan and the Pakistan Army for their swift and effective response in ensuring the safe return of their loved ones. Many praised the timely coordination and logistical arrangements that made this complex operation possible, especially under challenging circumstances. The government’s proactive approach has been widely acknowledged as a reassuring gesture for all Pakistanis residing abroad during times of crisis.

It is worth noting that the Pakistan Army has played a crucial role in managing border security and facilitating the smooth transit of these students through the Taftan border crossing. Their involvement has been instrumental in maintaining order and providing necessary support throughout the repatriation process. This operation also reflects the broader commitment of Pakistani authorities to safeguard their citizens wherever they may be, particularly in volatile regions.

As the repatriation continues, authorities remain vigilant and prepared to assist any remaining Pakistani nationals who wish to return home. The government has assured that all necessary measures will be taken to ensure their safe and dignified return. Meanwhile, the successful repatriation of these students marks a positive step in addressing the concerns of Pakistani families and reinforces the country’s dedication to the welfare of its diaspora.
