Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar engaged in a significant telephonic dialogue with Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s High Representative and Vice President, on Monday. The conversation centered on the escalating tensions and recent developments unfolding across Iran and the broader Middle East region, areas of critical geopolitical importance that have drawn international attention.

During the exchange, Ishaq Dar highlighted the urgent necessity for all parties involved to prioritize dialogue and diplomatic efforts as the primary means to defuse rising hostilities. He stressed that de-escalation is essential to prevent further destabilization, which could have far-reaching consequences not only for the immediate region but also for global peace and security.

In addition to the broader Middle Eastern context, Dar provided a comprehensive briefing on the current state of affairs between Pakistan and Afghanistan. He elaborated on the ongoing tensions along their shared border and the challenges faced in maintaining stability amid complex political and security dynamics. The Deputy Prime Minister acknowledged the European Union’s proactive and constructive role in engaging with Pakistan on these issues, expressing appreciation for their continued support and involvement.

Both leaders concurred on the importance of sustaining open channels of communication to monitor and respond effectively to the evolving situation. They agreed to keep in close contact to ensure coordinated efforts aimed at fostering peace and stability in the region. This dialogue reflects the mutual commitment of Pakistan and the European Union to work collaboratively in addressing regional challenges through peaceful means.

It is worth noting that this conversation comes at a time when the Middle East is witnessing heightened tensions due to various political and security developments, making diplomatic engagement more crucial than ever. Pakistan’s role as a regional stakeholder and its relationship with neighboring Afghanistan remain pivotal in shaping the future trajectory of peace and cooperation in South Asia and beyond.
