In a significant diplomatic exchange on Monday, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar engaged in a detailed telephonic discussion with Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s High Representative and Vice President. The conversation centered around the escalating tensions and recent developments in the broader Middle East region, including Iran, which have raised concerns internationally.

During the call, Ishaq Dar highlighted the critical importance of pursuing dialogue and diplomatic channels to ease the mounting pressures in the region. He stressed that de-escalation should remain the foremost priority for all stakeholders to prevent further instability. This approach reflects Pakistan’s longstanding commitment to peaceful conflict resolution and regional harmony.

Furthermore, Senator Dar provided an update on the current situation along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, where tensions have been a source of concern for Islamabad. He outlined the challenges faced by Pakistan in managing security and humanitarian issues arising from the evolving dynamics in Afghanistan. His briefing underscored the need for continued international cooperation to address these complex challenges effectively.

In response, Kaja Kallas acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts and expressed appreciation for its constructive role in maintaining regional stability. The EU’s engagement, she noted, remains focused on supporting peaceful solutions and fostering dialogue among all parties involved. Both leaders concurred on the necessity of sustained communication and collaboration to monitor and respond to the fluid geopolitical landscape.

The discussion concluded with a mutual agreement to keep channels of communication open and to work closely on developments as they unfold. This exchange marks an important step in reinforcing Pakistan-EU ties and highlights the shared commitment to peace and stability in a region marked by complex challenges and shifting alliances.
