Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has issued a bold challenge to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), daring the party to organize a rally in Punjab that surpasses the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in attendance. Afridi declared he would resign from politics if the PML-N manages to attract a bigger crowd.
In a statement shared on X, Afridi invited the PML-N to select any city in Punjab for their rally, while PTI would also pick a city of its choosing. He emphasized that the PML-N could determine the day, date, and time of the event, provided both parties are granted a completely fair and equal platform.
“If the PML-N’s rally draws a larger public turnout than PTI’s, I am prepared to quit politics,” Afridi asserted. He further challenged the PML-N to accept this open political contest without reservations.
Meanwhile, Afridi warned that if PTI’s rally attracts more supporters, the PML-N would need to address questions regarding its public backing, treatment of political workers, and governance record. He stressed that the true measure of popular support should come from the public’s presence and response, rather than from claims, official data, or media reports.
“Let the verdict be decided not by assertions, official figures, or media commentary, but by the people’s turnout and their public reaction,” Afridi stated.
In a significant development, Afridi also referenced the February 8 elections, claiming that the people of Punjab had granted PTI a two-thirds majority, underscoring his confidence in his party’s popularity in the province.
