US-based drone manufacturer Powerus has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Pakistan Army, which includes an initial order related to unmanned aerial systems, revealed co-founder Brett Velicovich. While Velicovich refrained from disclosing specific details or the contract’s financial value due to security and confidentiality concerns, he confirmed the agreement falls within the scope of drone technology.

Powerus specializes in aerial and maritime drones designed for military and industrial applications. The company is preparing to merge with Aureus Greenway Holdings, a publicly traded firm supported by Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump. Both companies anticipate completing the merger by early October. Regulatory filings indicate that American Ventures, an investment fund linked to the Trump sons, will hold a 9.9% beneficial stake in the combined entity post-merger.

In a notable development on Wednesday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that a Powerus delegation led by Velicovich met with Field Marshal Munir to discuss defence procurement, production, and long-term capacity building initiatives. The military’s media wing did not immediately provide further comments on the agreement outside business hours.

This collaboration emerges amid a thaw in relations between Washington and Islamabad after years of tension. President Trump has publicly commended Chief of Defence Staff Munir, while Pakistan has launched various economic, financial, and defence initiatives aimed at enhancing bilateral ties with the United States.

Andrew Fox, Powerus’ founder and CEO, described Pakistan’s private defence sector as “emerging but not yet mature,” suggesting significant opportunities for US companies to accelerate progress. Velicovich emphasized the goal of establishing a joint technology partnership, combining leading US and Pakistani technologies, and noted that Powerus is exploring possibilities to develop technology within Pakistan.

Fox dismissed any claims that the company’s expansion is linked to the Trump sons’ involvement, stressing that contracts are awarded based on merit and that the Trump family members have no operational role in the business. A spokesperson for Donald Trump Jr. clarified that he is a passive investor with no management or procurement responsibilities and had no prior knowledge or involvement in the deal. Efforts to reach Eric Trump were unsuccessful.

White House Special Assistant to the President and Principal Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly stated there are no conflicts of interest related to the matter.
