The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted rain and thunderstorms in Karachi beginning on September 14, influenced by a low-pressure system developing over the Bay of Bengal. This system originated over the northwest Bay of Bengal and coastal Odisha and is currently positioned over Chhattisgarh and nearby areas, moving westward.

Under the impact of this weather system, multiple districts in Sindh—including Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Thatta, Sujawal, and Tando Muhammad Khan—are expected to experience heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms. Similarly, Sanghar, Khairpur, Hyderabad, Tando Allahyar, Matiari, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Jamshoro are forecasted to receive rain and thunderstorms from September 14 to 16.

For Karachi specifically, light rain and thunderstorms are anticipated during the same period. Meanwhile, the city’s weather will remain hot and humid for the next two days, with maximum temperatures fluctuating between 36°C and 37°C.

In a significant development, the Met Office also predicted rainfall across Punjab, noting that a westerly wave is expected to enter the northern regions of the country over the weekend and intensify by September 14.
