The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a province-wide alert in Punjab as the ninth and final monsoon spell is forecasted to begin between September 12 and 17. This weather event is expected to impact several districts across the region.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has indicated that a westerly wave will enter the upper parts of the country over the weekend, with an anticipated intensification around September 14. This system is likely to bring significant rainfall to various areas.
In a significant development, PDMA Director General Saif Anwar Jappa cautioned about the possibility of urban flooding in major cities such as Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, and Faisalabad. He also highlighted the risk of flash floods in rainwater drainage systems. Additionally, alerts have been issued for potential landslides in hilly regions including Murree and the Galiat area.

Under the influence of this weather system, rain is expected in Rawalpindi, Jehlum, Chakwal, Talagang, Attock, and surrounding areas. From September 14 to 17, rainfall is also forecasted in Lahore, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Wazirabad, Hafizabad, Kasur, Okara, Nankana Sahib, and Sargodha.
