Israeli Airstrike Devastates Girls’ School in Southern Iran, Over 50 Dead

An Israeli airstrike targeted an elementary school for girls in the southern Iranian city of Minab, located in Hormozgan province, resulting in the tragic deaths of at least 53 individuals and injuring 63 others. The devastating attack has sent shockwaves throughout the region, highlighting the growing civilian toll amid the ongoing military confrontations involving the United States and Israel against Iran.

Rescue teams have been tirelessly working to remove rubble and search for survivors at the site of the strike, as Iranian authorities continue to assess the full extent of the damage. The incident has drawn widespread condemnation within Iran, with state media emphasizing the human cost of these military operations. This strike forms part of a broader series of coordinated US-Israeli attacks across various locations in Iran, which have intensified regional tensions and sparked fears of further escalation.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi took to social media to share harrowing images of the destroyed school, condemning the assault as a brutal attack on innocent children. He vowed that such acts of violence against Iranian civilians would not be left unanswered, signaling Tehran’s intent to respond firmly to these provocations. The Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson, Esmail Baqaei, described the strike as a “blatant crime” and called on the United Nations Security Council to intervene and hold the perpetrators accountable.

Adding to the tragedy, another Israeli strike reportedly hit a school located east of Tehran, killing at least two students. These incidents raise serious questions about the stated objectives of the US and Israeli military campaigns, which claim to target only military installations. Observers note that the increasing civilian casualties undermine these assertions and may further inflame anti-Western sentiment within Iran and across the broader Middle East.

From Tehran, international correspondents have highlighted how these attacks are likely to be portrayed by Iranian officials as clear violations of international law and acts of aggression against the Iranian people. Despite the gravity of the situation, neither the United States nor Israel has issued an immediate response to the allegations concerning the school strikes. This silence has only deepened concerns about the humanitarian impact of the ongoing conflict.

The recent surge in hostilities follows a pattern of joint US-Israeli military actions that began earlier this year, provoking retaliatory measures from Tehran and raising alarms about the potential for a wider regional war. This escalation echoes the intense clashes witnessed in June 2025, when a 12-day confrontation between the US and Iran resulted in significant civilian casualties and widespread destruction of public infrastructure across Iranian cities.

Iran’s Ministry of Health and Medical Education, thousands of civilians were either killed or wounded during that previous conflict, underscoring the severe human cost of these military engagements. The current wave of violence threatens to repeat and possibly worsen these tragic outcomes, as diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions remain elusive.
