The soyem, a traditional Islamic gathering held on the third day after a person’s passing, for Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of HUM Network and one of Pakistan’s most distinguished civil servants, is set to take place in Karachi today. This solemn event will be observed between the Asar and Maghrib prayers at Masjid Usman Ghani, providing an opportunity for family, friends, and colleagues to pay their respects and offer prayers for his departed soul.

Earlier, the funeral prayers for Siddiqui were conducted on Friday, drawing attendees from various walks of life who came to honor his memory. Known for his integrity and dedication, Siddiqui’s death marks the loss of a prominent figure in Pakistan’s bureaucratic and educational circles. His contributions have left a lasting impact on the institutions he served and the people he guided.

Throughout his extensive career, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui held several pivotal roles within the Government of Pakistan. He served as Secretary of Education and Secretary of Finance, two critical positions that underscored his versatility and expertise in managing both educational policies and the country’s financial affairs. Additionally, he was entrusted with responsibilities in the Services and General Administration Department, further highlighting his broad administrative experience.

Beyond his government service, Siddiqui made significant strides in the education sector. He was appointed Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sindh, where he worked tirelessly to enhance academic standards and promote research. His leadership extended to the Sindh Madressatul Islam Board and Quaid-e-Azam Public School, institutions where he played a key role in shaping educational frameworks and nurturing future generations.

It is also important to note that Mazharul Haq Siddiqui was the elder brother of Sultana Siddiqui, the President of HUM Network, a leading media organization in Pakistan. Their familial bond was well known, and together they contributed to the country’s cultural and educational landscape in their respective fields.

Mazharul Haq Siddiqui is remembered not only for his administrative acumen but also for his unwavering commitment to public service. His efforts in strengthening Pakistan’s education system have been widely acknowledged, and his legacy continues to inspire many within the civil service and academic communities. The soyem ceremony today will serve as a poignant reminder of his lifelong dedication and the profound influence he had on the nation.
