Lahore police have suspended all 78 personnel assigned to Ghaziabad Police Station following allegations that a mentally disabled young woman was sexually assaulted there. An assistant sub-inspector reportedly brought the girl to the station under the guise of an investigation, where the alleged assault took place.

The suspended staff includes the station house officer (SHO), two sub-inspectors, and eight assistant sub-inspectors. A criminal case has been registered under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which pertains to rape, along with Section 155-C of the Police Order 2002, addressing police misconduct.

The victim’s father stated that his approximately 20-year-old daughter, who has a mental disability, left home on Sunday afternoon and did not return. The family began searching for her after a passerby informed them that a plainclothes police officer had taken her to the police station. When the family arrived at the station around 9 pm, they were told she had already returned home.

Upon reaching home, the father found his daughter in tears. She disclosed that a police officer had taken her on a motorcycle before sexually assaulting her. Police investigations are ongoing to clarify the circumstances and identify those responsible.

In a significant development, DIG Operations Faisal Kamran visited Ghaziabad Police Station to conduct a thorough inspection of the station’s records, front desk, lockup, and sanitation. He reviewed the attendance of officers and personnel on duty, emphasizing the importance of diligence in their responsibilities.

He instructed the officers to prioritize the swift and merit-based resolution of citizens’ complaints, urging them to treat every complainant with respect. Additionally, he called for enhanced patrolling efforts to curb crime effectively.
