OGDCL, Kings Men Academy Join Grade-I Cricket, Replacing WAPDA, Sahir Associates

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has finalized the lineup of teams for the upcoming Grade-I departmental cricket season, announcing the inclusion of OGDCL and Kings Men Academy in place of WAPDA and Sahir Associates. This change follows the failure of WAPDA and Sahir Associates to meet the required standards for participation in departmental cricket.

In a significant development, the PCB emphasized its commitment to maintaining high standards both on and off the field, stating that no compromises will be made regarding the quality and professionalism of departmental teams. All participating teams must adhere to the PCB’s fitness policy and ensure transparent payment practices, including annual contracts, match fees, and daily allowances for players.

Moreover, the PCB has mandated that each of the eight Grade-I departmental teams must include at least one Under-21 player in every List A and first-class match. Teams are also required to provide players with quality accommodation and meals throughout tournaments, reinforcing the board’s focus on player welfare.

The PCB described departmental cricket as the cornerstone of Pakistan’s domestic cricket framework and highlighted the importance of collaboration between departments and the board to promote player development and welfare.

The eight teams competing in Grade-I departmental cricket this season are SNGPL, KRL, Kings Men Academy, OGDCL, PTV, Ghani Glass, MIT Solutions, and the State Bank of Pakistan.

Senior General Manager Domestic Cricket Osama Sharron reiterated the PCB’s dedication to upholding the highest professional standards in domestic cricket. He stressed that merit and accountability remain non-negotiable principles in organizing departmental cricket.

Sharron further noted that the primary goal is to enhance players’ skills by fostering a competitive domestic environment, acknowledging the historic role departmental cricket has played in nurturing Pakistan’s cricketing talent.
