Sudan’s RSF Leader Urges Forces to Retake Khartoum Amid Conflict

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of Sudan have intensified their efforts to regain control of the capital, Khartoum. In a recently circulated video, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, widely known as Hemedti, urged his fighters to advance and seize the city. This call to action marks a significant escalation in the ongoing power struggle within Sudan, where clashes between military factions have destabilized the country.

The RSF, a powerful paramilitary group, has played a central role in Sudan’s complex political and security landscape. Hemedti’s leadership has been influential since the RSF’s origins in the Darfur conflict, and the group’s current push to control Khartoum reflects broader tensions between the RSF and Sudan’s regular armed forces. The battle for the capital is critical, as control over Khartoum would grant significant political leverage to whichever faction prevails.

Meanwhile, the situation in Sudan remains volatile, with the potential for widespread humanitarian consequences if fighting intensifies in urban areas. The international community has expressed concern over the escalating violence, emphasizing the need for dialogue and a peaceful resolution. The RSF’s vow to retake Khartoum underscores the fragile nature of Sudan’s transition and the challenges facing its path to stability.
