Funeral prayers were conducted on Thursday for 10 police officers, among them DSP City Diyar Khan, who lost their lives in a terrorist assault on the Khazina Banda police checkpost in Hangu. The attack occurred on Wednesday night, resulting in the deaths of these personnel and injuries to 22 others.
The ceremony was attended by officials from the civil administration, police officers, and local citizens. Floral wreaths were placed on the coffins as mourners honored the fallen officers’ sacrifice. After the prayers, the bodies were transported to their hometowns for burial.
In a significant development, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed stated that police forces retaliated effectively, killing between 12 and 15 terrorists during the confrontation.
Hangu District Police Officer Tariq Habib confirmed that the terrorists targeted the Khazina Banda checkpost, resulting in the martyrdom of 10 personnel, including DSP Diyar Khan. He emphasized that operations against militants in the region would persist to ensure security.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the attack and paid homage to the brave police personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
