Kuwait’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, is scheduled to visit Pakistan from July 28 to 29, 2026, following an invitation from Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. During this official visit, the two leaders will engage in discussions aimed at reviewing the full scope of bilateral relations and exchanging perspectives on regional and international issues of mutual concern.

In addition to formal talks with DPM Dar, Sheikh Al-Sabah is expected to meet with Pakistan’s top leadership in a courtesy call, underscoring the importance of the visit. This diplomatic engagement highlights the commitment of both Pakistan and Kuwait to deepen their longstanding partnership and broaden cooperation for shared benefits.

Notably, this visit occurs shortly after reports surfaced about ongoing negotiations between Pakistan and Kuwait to expand their defence agreement. Currently, Kuwait and Pakistan maintain a limited defence arrangement focused on training and joint military exercises since 2023. However, Kuwait is now seeking a more robust security pact similar to Pakistan’s existing agreement with Saudi Arabia.

a Pakistani government official, Kuwait aims to secure a substantial Pakistani military presence, which could include thousands of troops stationed on Kuwaiti soil, along with fighter jets, drones, an air defence system, and other defence infrastructure. This proposed expansion is linked to broader cooperation involving energy partnerships and investment opportunities, reflecting a strategic alignment between the two countries.
