Pakistan vehemently denounced the statements made by Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh regarding Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), labeling them as misplaced aggression and belligerence. The Foreign Office spokesperson issued a firm condemnation of the provocative and irresponsible remarks in the context of the longstanding Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
The spokesperson highlighted that Singh’s comments not only misrepresent facts related to the United Nations and the internationally recognized Kashmir dispute, which remains on the UN Security Council’s agenda, but also reflect India’s deliberate strategy to threaten regional and global peace and security.
On Sunday, Rajnath Singh asserted that dialogue with Pakistan would be limited to “Pakistan-administered Kashmir.” He further stated that the Indian government has empowered its armed forces to respond decisively to any threats, expressing confidence that no adversary would dare challenge India’s sovereignty.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Foreign Office criticized these assertions as attempts to divert attention from India’s ongoing occupation of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), its support for terrorism in the region, and internal instability within India. The statement emphasized that despite India’s aggressive rhetoric, Pakistan’s government and people remain steadfast in their resolve to counter any Indian adventurism, as demonstrated during Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos last year.
In a significant development, Pakistan called on the international community, particularly the United Nations, to recognize India’s continued rogue behavior and hold it accountable for failing to comply with UN Security Council resolutions that guarantee the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
