Karachi was struck by a dust storm accompanied by powerful winds on Saturday night, which significantly reduced visibility and caused temporary disruptions in various parts of the city. Concurrently, light to moderate rainfall continued for the second day in areas such as Gulshan-e-Maymar and Gadap, contributing to the changing weather conditions.

Earlier in the day, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had indicated that rain-bearing clouds over the Kirthar range were moving towards Karachi. The meteorological office had predicted light rain accompanied by thunder across the metropolis, with the possibility of short bursts of heavy rain in some locations.

This dust storm followed a day when Karachi experienced varying intensities of rainfall, ranging from light to heavy showers. The PMD had forecast additional rain over the weekend, suggesting that the wet weather would persist. Notably, heavy downpours had affected Shahrah-e-Faisal and its surrounding neighborhoods, while Sohrab Goth also recorded intense rainfall.

Other areas that witnessed rain included Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase 6, North Nazimabad, and Gulshan-e-Maymar, along with adjacent localities. Light drizzle was also observed on II Chundrigar Road and nearby sectors.

PMD data, Surjani Town recorded the highest rainfall with 5.5mm, followed by 5mm in Gulshan-e-Hadeed, 4mm in Keamari, 3.2mm in Nazimabad, 3mm at PAF Masroor, 2.6mm in Gulshan-e-Maymar, and 1mm in North Karachi.

In a significant development, the PMD had forecast widespread rain, windstorms, and thundershowers with isolated heavy falls across southern and central Pakistan from July 26 to 27, indicating that the region should prepare for continued unsettled weather conditions.
