A formal petition has been submitted to the Supreme Court of Pakistan requesting the transfer of former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan from Adiala Jail to Shifa International Hospital. This development follows Khan’s recent transfer to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for a follow-up examination related to his eye ailment. At PIMS, he received a second dose of an anti-VEGF intravitreal injection, a treatment aimed at combating vision loss caused by retinal issues. The procedure was conducted under the watchful eyes of consultant ophthalmologists and a vitreoretinal surgeon from both PIMS and Shifa Eye Hospital, ensuring a high standard of care. It was performed as a day-care surgery, allowing Khan to be discharged the same day with detailed follow-up instructions and prescribed medication.
In addition to the eye treatment, a consultant cardiologist at PIMS conducted echocardiography and an electrocardiogram (ECG) to assess Khan’s cardiac health. Both tests returned normal results, providing some reassurance regarding his overall medical condition. Prior to the procedure, a board of specialists thoroughly examined him, reflecting the seriousness with which his health concerns are being addressed despite his incarceration.
