In a tragic and brutal incident on February 23, 2026, militants launched a deadly assault on ambulances transporting injured Federal Constabulary (FC) personnel near Ghole Banda Dam in Karak district. The attack resulted in the martyrdom of three FC officials, all of whom were residents of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. This violent episode has sent shockwaves through the local community and raised serious concerns about the security situation in the region.
The attack unfolded shortly after militants carried out a quadcopter strike on an FC post located in the Qila Shahidan area of Karak. Following the initial assault, two Rescue 1122 ambulances promptly arrived at the scene to evacuate the wounded personnel. However, the situation took a devastating turn during their return journey when the ambulances were ambushed by the militants. One of the vehicles was set on fire with the injured FC personnel still inside, leading to the tragic loss of life. The second ambulance, despite coming under attack, managed to safely evacuate its passengers.
Among those who lost their lives in the fiery attack were Sepoy Murad Gul and Sepoy Ayan Khan from Hangu district, along with Lance Naik Adil Khan from Mansehra district. All three men were serving with the Federal Constabulary and hailed from various parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. The attack also inflicted serious injuries on several others, including Havaldar Sabir, Muhammad Yousaf, Hanif, and the ambulance driver, Ahmad Hussain. The injured were swiftly transported to hospitals in Bannu and Karak for urgent medical care.
Adding to the horror of the incident, the militants reportedly recorded the attack and circulated the footage on social media platforms. This act appears to be a deliberate attempt to instill fear and panic among the public, further destabilizing the already fragile security environment in the region. Such tactics underscore the militants’ intent to not only inflict physical harm but also psychological trauma on the community and security forces alike.
Authorities have strongly condemned the attack, describing it as a heinous act of violence against those who serve to protect the country. Security agencies have reiterated their commitment to intensifying operations against militant groups responsible for such brutal acts. The incident has once again highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by security forces in maintaining peace and stability in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and the broader tribal belt.
As investigations continue, the focus remains on bringing the perpetrators to justice and enhancing protective measures for emergency responders and security personnel operating in high-risk areas. The sacrifice of Sepoy Murad Gul, Sepoy Ayan Khan, and Lance Naik Adil Khan will be remembered as a solemn reminder of the dangers faced by those on the frontlines of Pakistan’s fight against militancy.
