Kerosene Price Reduced by Rs41.44 Per Litre in Latest Fuel Adjustment

The federal government has announced a significant reduction in the price of kerosene oil, lowering it by Rs41.44 per litre. This adjustment brings the new kerosene price to Rs272 per litre, down from the previous Rs313.44 per litre, effective immediately as per the latest official notification released on Friday.

This price revision is part of the government’s routine fuel price reviews, which align with fluctuations in international oil markets and currency exchange rates. The move aims to provide financial relief to consumers amid ongoing global energy market volatility.

Meanwhile, the government also implemented a Rs22 per litre cut in petrol and diesel prices. The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved this reduction as a measure to ease the public’s economic burden. Petrol prices have been adjusted to Rs381.78 per litre, while diesel now costs Rs380.78 per litre. However, the Petroleum Division has yet to issue the formal notification to enforce these new rates.

In a significant development, the Prime Minister emphasized that alleviating the financial strain on citizens remains a top priority. He highlighted that fuel prices had already been lowered in the previous week and stressed the government’s efforts to shield consumers from the effects of fluctuating global oil prices through targeted policies and subsidies where feasible.

Notably, relief measures have also been extended to transport operators, motorcyclists, rickshaw drivers, and the goods transport sector to help mitigate rising operational expenses. The government has absorbed price increases exceeding Rs130 per litre during recent global energy crises to prevent full cost transfer to consumers.

Earlier reductions, including a Rs5 per litre cut announced on May 15, form part of the broader strategy to stabilize fuel prices and support the economy amid challenging international conditions.
