Rawalpindi’s First Woman Earns Heavy Transport Vehicle Licence

In a groundbreaking achievement for Rawalpindi, a woman has become the first in the city to obtain a Heavy Transport Vehicle (HTV) driving licence. This accomplishment marks a significant step towards gender equality in a traditionally male-dominated field, highlighting the growing empowerment of women in Pakistan’s transport sector. The licence allows her to operate large commercial vehicles, which are critical for logistics and goods transportation across the country.

Historically, driving heavy vehicles has been considered a male profession in many parts of Pakistan, including Rawalpindi. The issuance of this licence to a woman challenges societal norms and opens doors for more women to pursue careers in sectors previously inaccessible to them. It also reflects broader changes in attitudes towards women’s participation in diverse professional roles, contributing to economic inclusivity.

Meanwhile, this development could inspire policy makers and transport authorities to encourage more women to enter the heavy vehicle driving profession. It may also lead to increased safety and training programs tailored for female drivers, fostering a more inclusive and skilled workforce. The milestone is expected to motivate other women in Rawalpindi and beyond to break barriers and pursue similar ambitions in the transport industry.
