Rain and Hailstorm Hit Islamabad; More Showers Expected Soon

Islamabad experienced intense rain and hailstorms on Thursday, bringing a sudden shift in weather conditions across the capital and its neighboring regions. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued warnings for additional rainfall and gusty winds expected to affect the twin cities and the broader Potohar plateau in the coming hours.

the latest advisory, thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds are likely to impact Rawalpindi along with nearby districts such as Jhelum, Chakwal, and Attock. The PMD highlighted that heavy downpours are anticipated in Murree, Kahuta, Gujar Khan, and Talagang, with isolated hailstorms also possible in certain localities. This change in weather has temporarily eased the rising temperatures but has raised concerns about potential damage to agriculture and infrastructure.

In response to the forecast, local authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions against the severe weather conditions. The department emphasized the risk of damage to vulnerable structures, vehicles, and standing crops due to strong winds and hail. They also advised the public to stay informed through official weather updates to mitigate any adverse effects.

These weather developments come as part of a broader pattern of seasonal changes affecting the region, where sudden storms can disrupt daily life and impact economic activities, particularly farming. The PMD continues to monitor the situation closely and will provide further updates as conditions evolve.
