LAHORE: Punjab’s Information Minister Azma Bukhari has publicly condemned actress and host Fiza Ali for a contentious act performed during a recent live broadcast of the “Fiza Ali Show.”
In a statement, Bukhari accused the actress of crossing ethical boundaries in an attempt to increase the show’s ratings. She highlighted that the performance was widely denounced on social media as inappropriate and offensive.
“The era when moral values were upheld is long gone; Fiza Ali has clearly overstepped the line,” the minister asserted, expressing strong disapproval of the incident.
She added that such stunts seem designed purely to attract viewers, without regard for the diverse audience, including children, who watch these programs. The minister emphasized the importance of maintaining decency on public broadcasts.
The controversy erupted after Fiza Ali’s act during a morning show segment sparked significant backlash online, with many viewers labeling it unsuitable for television.
In response to the public outcry, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) issued a show-cause notice to the channel that aired the program, demanding an explanation for the broadcasted content.
