The Rawalpindi Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) has announced a postponement of matriculation examinations originally scheduled for April 10. This decision comes as Islamabad prepares to host critical diplomatic discussions between the United States and Iran, reflecting the heightened security concerns in the capital region.
The postponement specifically impacts 64 examination centers located within Rawalpindi city, where students were expected to take compulsory papers in Urdu and geography. However, exams in other districts within the Rawalpindi Division will proceed as planned, ensuring minimal disruption to the broader examination schedule.
In a significant development, authorities in both Islamabad and Rawalpindi have declared local holidays for April 9 and 10. These measures aim to facilitate a secure environment during the sensitive peace talks. To this end, stringent security protocols have been enforced, with law enforcement agencies and security personnel fully deployed to maintain order and safety throughout the region.
Notably, a hotel situated in Islamabad’s highly secured Red Zone has been reserved exclusively for the delegations from the United States and Iran. The government has ensured the premises are vacated and fortified, underscoring the importance of the diplomatic engagement. The Rawalpindi Board will announce new dates for the postponed examinations soon, and students will be promptly informed of the revised schedule.
