Sindh Warns Public Against Fake Pink Scooty Scheme Ads

The Sindh Mass Transit Authority (SMTA) has issued a critical alert cautioning the public against deceptive schemes falsely promoting the Pink Scooty Scheme. The authority emphasized that the authentic program is exclusively managed by the Sindh Government.

SMTA highlighted that all advertisements circulating on social media platforms claiming to offer the Pink Scooty Scheme are counterfeit. Citizens are strongly advised to refrain from sharing personal information or documents through unofficial or suspicious links to protect their data privacy.

Applications for the genuine Pink Scooty Scheme must be submitted solely via the official government portal to ensure authenticity and security.

In a significant development, the Sindh government announced last month the launch of a free pink electric scooter distribution initiative for women, timed to coincide with International Women’s Day on March 8. Senior Provincial Minister for Information and Transport, Sharjeel Inam Memon, detailed that this program aims to empower women by providing them with safe, eco-friendly transportation options.

The initiative includes the provision of modern electric scooters designed to conserve energy and reduce pollution. Additionally, recipients will receive formal driving training and road safety awareness sessions to promote safe usage. Minister Memon underscored the program’s role in enhancing women’s mobility and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to future projects aimed at improving living standards, particularly for women.

Notably, in September of the previous year, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari distributed free pink electric scooters to working women in Karachi during a ceremony attended by Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah, Information Minister Sharjeel Memon, and other officials. Bilawal highlighted the PPP government’s efforts to support women, especially those employed, and noted Sindh’s pioneering role as the first province in Pakistan to introduce electric buses.

The distribution of electric scooters will be conducted through a transparent balloting process overseen by a committee comprising members from the Excise, Transport, and Finance departments, along with media representatives to ensure fairness.

Applicants interested in participating can apply by visiting the Sindh Mass Transit Authority’s website, navigating to the “Projects” section, selecting the “EV Scooty Ballot Form – Application Form,” completing the form, attaching the necessary documents, and submitting their application online.
