Terry Crews opened up emotionally after his wife, Rebecca King-Crews, disclosed that she has been quietly battling Parkinson’s disease for over ten years. The 60-year-old revealed she was officially diagnosed in 2015 following years of symptoms but chose to keep her condition private until recently.
In a joint interview, Rebecca shared that she is now experiencing improvements after undergoing a newly approved procedure aimed at alleviating Parkinson’s symptoms. She expressed optimism, noting that she can write with her right hand again for the first time in several years.
Watching his wife regain lost abilities moved Crews deeply. “To see her write her name for the first time in three years… I’m choked up just thinking about it,” he said. He described Rebecca as the family’s pillar, praising her resilience through both physical and emotional hardships.
The innovative treatment has already enhanced symptoms on one side of her body, improving balance and coordination. Rebecca is scheduled for a second procedure later this year to target the other side, continuing her recovery journey. Although still early in the process, she feels hopeful about the progress made so far.
After more than a decade of keeping her diagnosis private, Rebecca decided it was time to share her story publicly. Her intention is to raise awareness about new treatment options and support others facing similar challenges. She emphasized that her purpose is not to elicit sympathy but to highlight advancements in Parkinson’s care.
Rebecca also pointed out that the procedure remains costly and is not yet widely available, underscoring the need for broader accessibility.
Her health journey has been marked by significant challenges, including a double mastectomy in 2020 following a breast cancer diagnosis. Despite these obstacles, she remains determined to persevere. “I don’t believe that you just lay down and die just because you got a diagnosis,” she stated.
The couple’s story has brought renewed attention to Parkinson’s awareness, with Terry Crews steadfastly supporting his wife throughout her ongoing battle.
